Hannah McCann

 

Dr Hannah McCann is a Lecturer in Cultural Studies at the University of Melbourne. Her work is concerned with theorising femininity, with projects on queer femme subculture, beauty culture/hair and beauty salons, and queer girl digital fan cultures.

Her research draws primarily on feminist theory, queer theory, affect theory. She has published in journals including the European Journal of Women's Studies, Australian Feminist Studies, and Women's Studies Quarterly, and has forthcoming work in Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Society, Sexualities, and Girlhood Studies. Her writing for a broader audience can be found on The Conversation, The Wheeler Centre blog, Feminartsy, and via her blog www.binarythis.com. In January 2018 her monograph "Queering Femininity: Sexuality, Feminism, and the Politics of Presentation" was published in the Routledge Feminism, Femininity and Female Sexuality series.
