Anke Wiethoelter

 

Anke is a veterinary graduate of the Free University of Berlin, Germany. During her doctorate at the Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research and her working experience as scientific coordinator of the German Research Platform for Zoonoses, she developed a keen interest in risk assessment, epidemiology and infectious diseases at the wildlife-livestock-human interface.

After relocating to Australia, Anke completed her Masters of Veterinary Public Health Management at the University of Sydney in 2014. As a postdoctoral research associate she investigated risk perception and mitigation strategies of horse owners in regard to Hendra virus. Her current role at the University of Melbourne involves research into emerging infectious diseases and One Health as well as teaching in the areas of veterinary public health, epidemiology and evidence-based practice.
