Steph has worked as a teacher, director and performer in Australia, Europe, the Americas and Asia. Steph trained with Jacques Lecoq at L'École internationale de théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris, and completed a Pedagogical Training Diploma in the Lecoq pedagogy under Thomas Prattki at the London International School of Performing Arts. Steph continues her training regularly with master Lecoq teacher Giovanni Fusetti and has also trained with Angela de Castro, John Wright, Jos Houben and Norman Taylor. Steph was a core staff member at the London International School of Performing Arts (LISPA) for several years and also taught Acting, Movement and Mask at the London Academy Music & Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), Rose Bruford College and Brunel University as well as for companies and festivals throughout the UK and across Europe.

Steph was the founder and co-director of international ensemble Mondes Contraires (2001-2010). With a mission "to go towards", the company created new works with artists and communities in the favelas of Brazil, on the Mongolian steppe, in the mountains of Nicaragua and throughout Switzerland. The company was invited to give a series of workshops at the International Theatre Institute's 2005 Conference in Ulaanbataar, Mongolia. The company's work was the subject of a feature length documentary, "Mondes contraires", made by Télévision Suisse Romande.

Returning to Australia in 2012, Steph was appointed Artist in Residence at the Women's Circus and in 2014 became the company's Artistic Director. Steph led a number of social circus projects with newly arrived communities including Somewhere, Now working with women from refugee and asylum seeker communities and The Art of Play working with children of newly arrived families across Melbourne's west. Steph also directed a number of large scale works including The Penelopiad (25th anniversary production, 2016), Water is Taught by Thirst (River of Lives Festival, 2015), The Chairs (Big West Festival, 2015), Soar (2013).

Joining the VCA in 2017, Steph wrote and was the inaugural Course Co-ordinator of the Bachelor of Fine Arts Theatre(2017-2020) and was awarded an Early Career Academic Teaching Excellence Award in 2020 for "Innovation in course design". Steph is currently the VCA's Senior Academic Mentor in the Academic Mentoring Program. Steph is a member of the Academic Progress Committee and the Academic Reference Group for the Contemplative Studies Centre and is an assessor for the University Student Theatre Grants program.

Steph is a long term collaborator with the award winning company Born in a Taxi and currently sits on their Artistic Steering Committee. In Australia, Steph has taught at the John Bolton Theatre School, QUT, the University of the Sunshine Coast as well as for Circus Oz, RAWCUS, Zen Zen Zo, St Martin's Youth Arts, ArtPlay, Union House Theatre, the Creative Victoria Artist in Schools Program and Regional Arts Victoria. She has also worked as a movement consultant/coach for Melbourne Theatre Company.

Steph has presented at a range of national and international conferences and is a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne. Her research explores the adaptation of the Lecoq pedagogy for the tertiary sector and the intersection of 20th century pedagogies with the 21st century imperative to create more accessible and inclusive actor training models.
