Ms Shakira Milton is a Research Assitant in Implementation Science and works to implement cancer prevention tools and guidelines into the Australian healthcare system. She moved from the United States to Melbourne to study Epidemiology and completed a Master of Science degree at The University of Melbourne.

Since then, she has worked on various research projects starting at the Cancer Council Victoria (CCV) in the Cancer Epidemiology and Intelligence Division. While at the CCV, she worked on the Australian Breakthrough Cancer Study which is a longitudinal cohort study which aimed to recruit 50,000 Australians to see how genes and lifestyle affect cancer risk. She also worked on the ACTIVATE Trial, an exercise study for breast cancer survivors. More recently she has been working at The University of Melbourne and enjoys conducting qualitative research. Currently, she is working to implement the national guidelines for aspirin chemoprevention in primary and tertiary care.
