David Black

 

David Black is a specialist in eighteenth-century music. The recipient of numerous scholarships and awards including the Welsford Smithers Travelling Scholarship and the Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship, he graduated from Harvard University in 2007 with a dissertation on sacred music in Mozart’s Vienna.

David was senior research fellow and director of music at Homerton College, Cambridge (2006-12), and is now an honorary fellow at the University of Melbourne. David has published in Acta Mozartiana, the Mozart-Jahrbuch, Early Music, Eighteenth-Century Music, Music and Letters, Journal of the American Musicological Society, The Cambridge History of Eighteenth-Century Music, and New Grove Online. His critical edition of the Mozart Requiem as completed by Süssmayr was published by Edition Peters in 2013. David's current project is an online edition of newly discovered Mozart documents, in collaboration with Dexter Edge.
