Liang Chen

Dr Liang Chen is a Senior Lecturer in Management at the University of Melbourne. His current research focuses on issues related to competition, innovation and internationalization in the digital economy.

He views business ecosystems as the dominant organizational structure in digital sectors. He also studies the growth and governance of technology platforms, such as Android and TikTok, which he believes form a new institutional arrangement for exchanging property rights.

Liang has conducted research on multinational firms, emerging markets, foreign investment, corporate strategy, digital innovation, knowledge management, and political risk. He is a recipient of the University of Melbourne Early Career Researcher Grant, and is funded by the Faculty of Business and Economics and the Melbourne School of Engineering to conduct research on knowledge management of engineering service firms. He is the Program Director for Master of International Business. Liang received his PhD at the University of Leeds and was on the faculty of the University of Sussex, both in the UK.
