Dr Short is a behavioural scientist and Senior Research Fellow jointly appointed between the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences and Melbourne School of Health Sciences in 2019 to drive interdisciplinary research in behaviour change, digital health and chronic disease control. She holds a BPysc with hons (2007) and PhD in Behavioural Medicine (2013) from the University of Newcastle, and has completed advanced post-doctoral training at the University of Adelaide, CQUniversity and Maastricht University in the Netherlands.

Her research aims to improve public health by increasing access to high quality multi-disciplinary behaviour change support through innovative technologies that bridge the gap between what is available in clinic and what is available at home. She has attracted over 1 million AUD in external research funding, including a prestigious National Health and Medical Research Council Fellowship awarded by the Australian Government.
