René Lafleur obtained his PhD in The Netherlands, where he worked on supramolecular polymers in water under the supervision of prof.dr. E.W.
Meijer. Currently he is investigating nanosystems for materials science in the laboratory of prof.dr. F. Caruso. René studied Biomedical Engineering at the Eindhoven University of Technology (The Netherlands) and completed his BSc program cum laude in 2010. During his MSc in Biomedical Chemistry he performed an internship at the California Institute of Technology (Pasadena, USA) in the laboratory of prof.dr. D.A. Tirrell, studying artificial extracellular matrix proteins for biomaterials. After graduating with honorable mention in 2013, René started his PhD within the Institute of Complex Molecular Systems at the Eindhoven University of Technology, under the supervision of prof.dr. E.W. Meijer. During his PhD he investigated the dynamic behavior of supramolecular polymers and copolymers in water, and obtained his PhD degree in 2017. After one year of postdoctoral research in prof.dr. E.W. Meijer's laboratory, working on the structural characterization of supramolecular (co)polymers and hydrogels derived from these systems, he was awarded an NWO-Rubicon fellowship to join the team of prof.dr. F. Caruso at the University of Melbourne.
