Dr Aiman Rizal (she/her) is an education-focused academic in the School of Culture and Communication at the University of Melbourne. She teaches across the Marketing and Media Communications program, drawing on expertise in digital media, health communication, cultural and postcolonial studies, and inclusive pedagogy with a particular commitment to culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) student cohorts and equitable access to learning.

Aiman holds a PhD in Media and Communications from RMIT University. Her doctoral thesis, Social Media and Sex Education in Malaysia: A Cultural, Religious, and Postcolonial Analysis, examined how young Malaysians, decision-makers, and content creators navigate sexual and reproductive health information across social media platforms, drawing on interpretive qualitative methods and thematic analysis. Her current research interests include social media and digital culture, digital health and sexual health communication, sex education, postcolonial and cultural studies, and influencer marketing.

Aimanl's teaching-focused scholarship centres on inclusive and equitable education. Her current SoTL interests include developing inclusive pedagogy for students from culturally diverse cohorts, building more inclusive practices in digital media spaces, and designing assessment and curriculum grounded in Universal Design for Learning and student-centred learning. She is also interested in how artificial intelligence is reshaping these areas, and in questions of knowledge assemblages: who owns knowledge and who imparts it, with particular attention to students and educators as agents of knowledge in marketing communications education.

Alongside her academic work, she contributes to sexual and reproductive health advocacy through roles with the New South Wales International Student Health Hub and the Reproductive Rights Advocacy Alliance Malaysia (RRAAM).

Before her current academic appointment, Aiman built extensive industry experience across government agencies, non-governmental organisations, and brands. Her work spanned marketing communications, campaign and events management, content creation for both internal and external communications, and market research and consumer insights. This practitioner background directly informs her media and marketing communications teaching, connecting theory and applied practice for students.
