Judith Marychurch is the Assistant Dean (Teaching & Learning) at Melbourne Law School. She is also Chair of the Australasian Law Academics Association (ALAA, since September 2024) and Co-Chair of the Legal Education Associate Deans (LEAD) Network (since 2015), which comprises representatives from all Australian Law Schools. The LEAD Network aims to enhance collaborative approaches to teaching and learning in Australian legal education through leadership, encouragement and promotion of good practice in learning and teaching in the discipline of law.

Since 2021, Judith and her LEAD colleagues have overseen the Australian Legal Education Awards (the ALEAs). The ALEAs were a joint initiative of the Council of Australian Law Deans (CALD) and LEAD, seeking to recognise, encourage and promote excellence and innovation in teaching and learning in the discipline of law. From 2026, the ALEAs and the Australian Legal Research Awards have been combined and renamed the CALD Academic Awards, comprising both a teaching and research stream.

In 2025, Judith and her LEAD Co-Chair, Associate Professor Kelley Burton from the University of the Sunshine Coast, together won the CAULLT/HERDSA Award for Outstanding Leadership in Research and Development for their work on the ALEAs and the Peer Review of Teaching program established to support inter-institutional peer review of teaching and educational practice for evidentiary purposes in confirmation, promotion, award and grant application processes.

Judith is a co-author of four editions of Uniform Evidence in Australia (Lexis Nexis) and two edited collections of papers from the Wellness for Law Forum, arising from the annual gathering of the Wellness Network for Law in 2019 and 2024 respectively.

Prior to her appointment at Melbourne Law School, Judith was an academic staff member and the Associate Dean Teaching & Learning in the Law School at the University of Wollongong (UOW), an institution she served from some nineteen years.

In 2006, Judith received a national Carrick (then ALTC and OLT) Citation for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning as well as the UOW Vice Chancellor's award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning (OCTAL).

Judith's interests include legal education, particularly student wellbeing, and innovation in assessment; also evidence and corporate law, with a specialisation in the legal issues surrounding forensic accounting.
