Jasmin Hufschmid

Jasmin Hufschmid graduated from the University of Sydney with a BVSc(Hons) in 1999; she worked in private mixed practice in Albury-Wodonga for 3 years, before returning to university for further study. Her postgraduate study examined the epidemiology of lumbo-sacral dermatitis ("rumpwear") in a population of brushtail possums (common and mountain brushtail possums) in the Strathbogie Ranges, Victoria, and she graduated with a PhD from the University of Melbourne (Faculty of Veterinary Science) in 2009.

She then took on a post-doctoral fellowship, which investigated chronic (industry-related) fluorosis in a population of eastern grey kangaroos and was employed as Lecturer in Wildlife Health at the Faculty of Veterinary and Agricultural Sciences (The University of Melbourne) from 2012. Jasmin's research (and teaching) interests centre on Conservation Medicine/Health (or One Health), including basic research as well as applied research. She also has a deep belief in the need for a multi-disciplinary approach to wildlife health, including veterinary science, ecology, environmental science and public health, and she greatly enjoys collaborating with professionals from all those fields.
