Abstract

This project aims to understand how water (and associated pollutants) move through the urban landscape. Urban stormwater runoff degrades streams, causing erosion, pollution and loss of biodiversity. Stormwater infiltration can reduce runoff volumes and pollutant loads and could restore stream baseflows, lost through creation of impervious areas. In reality, however, the fate of infiltrated stormwater in the urban landscape is unknown. This project is expected to predict where infiltration may damage waterway health, saving money on repairs.
