Abstract

Anxiety disorders are extremely debilitating, and are most likely to have their onset in young people. Understanding the biological mechanisms that increase risk for anxiety in this population is critical. This research will, for the first time, investigate the biological mechanisms of ‘fear extinction’ (a key process underlying anxiety) in young people. The results of this project will inform the development of more targeted and effective treatments for anxiety disorders.
