Improved Early Diagnosis of Eye Disease by Integration of Retinal Photography and Artificial Intelligence to Build an Opportunistic Screening Service in Regional and Remote Primary Care Settings

Abstract

Half a million Australian adults suffer from vision impairment or blindness and the incidence is expected to rise with the ageing of the Australian population. This research will assess the effectiveness of an automated screening solution designed for primary care settings. This technology has great potential to reduce the burden of vision loss through early detection.
