Abstract

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the leading cause of blindness in working-age adults. Early detection and treatment of DR can reduce blindness by 90%, but underserved populations with poor access to screening and eye care have disproportionately high rates of blindness. This study aims to implement and evaluate an innovative technology-based blindness prevention program for underserved populations. Providing early diagnosis will reduce rates of blindness from DR.
