Abstract

Changes in resilience - a phenomenon stemming from dynamical systems theory - has been observed in a wide range natural systems prior to a change in state (e.g. prior to an earthquake). It has been proposed that the onset of epileptic seizures are also characterised by change in resilience. If correct, this theory could provide a much needed biomarker for seizures and has the potential to make them predictable.
