Abstract
Wheat streak mosaic virus (WSMV) is a serious disease of wheat and is primarily transmitted from infected to healthy plants by the wheat curl mite, Aceria tosichella Keifer. Although wheat is the primary plant host of A. tosichella, wheat curl mites have been recorded on more than 60 different plant hosts; this broad host range allows mites to survive outside the wheat-growing season by providing a ‘green bridge’.
