Abstract
Stammerinema soricis (Tiner, 1951) is reported from Sorex araneus L. from a new geographic locality, Sologne, France. Comparison of the ontogenesis of the cephalic structures of this species with two other acuariids of mammals, S. suffodiax Beveridge & Barker, 1975 and S. thapari (Teixeira de Freitas, 1953), shows that these three species, formerly included in the same genus, represent three distinct genera:Stammerinema Osche, 1955, parasitic in holarctic insectivores;Antechiniella n. g. parasitic in Australian marsupials and rodents; and Skrjabinoclava Sobolev, 1943, parasitic in neotropical carnivores and in birds. The two genera Stammerinema and Antechiniella belonging to different subfam..
