The flow cytometric analysis of in vitro phagocytic activity of earthworm coelomocytes (Eisenia foetida; Annelida)

Abstract
We have detected in vitro phagocytic activity of earthworm coelomocytes (Eisenia foetida, Annelida) by flow cytometry using FITC-labelled synthetic 2-hydroxy-ethylmethacrylate particles (FITC-HEMA). We have observed that the phagocytic activity is increased after in vivo stimulation by a protein antigen (arsanylated human serum albumin) and after pre-incubation of particles in cell-free coelomic fluid. © 1990.
