Abstract

A method for quantifying lectin binding to fungal cells is described. Glutaraldehyde-fixed cells are immobilized as a single layer to the surface of wells of polyvinyl chloride microtiter trays. Labeled lectins are added and the level of specific binding is measured. This is a rapid, sensitive, and relatively inexpensive method for detecting nanogram levels of binding of a suitably labeled probe to the cell surface. © 1984.
