Abstract
The spread of urological malignancies, particularly prostate, bladder and kidney to bone, is a poor prognostic factor. Early detection of metastatic bony lesions assists with tailoring patient management and improving quality of life. The rich blood supply and favorable environment that bone provides make it a preferred site for many malignancies. However, the complications of bone metastases can be devastating and severely debilitating. Newer therapies such as zoledronic acid for prostate cancer have reinvigorated the importance of clinicians treating bony disease.
