Abstract
An area of chemical research involves the synthesis of polymeric capsules with well defined dimensions. The synthesis of hollow multilayered polymeric capsules formed by a layer-by-layer polymer adsorption process on gold templates is reported. The direct coating of particles with preformed polymers is an attractive means to achieve a uniform coating. Aqueous colloidal metals are stabilized by nonionic polymers. It is not possible to build up multilayer coatings on monolayer-coated particles. Spectrophotometric analysis provided the evidence for particle coating.
