Abstract
Recent results suggest that the average convection velocity of wall layer motions in the turbulent boundary layer undergoes variation with increasing Reynolds number. To explore this further, experiments involving the measurement of fluctuating wall pressure at two axial locations in a high Reynolds number boundary layer were acquired, analyzed and interpreted. The experiments were conducted in the atmospheric surface layer at the Surface Layer Turbulence and Environmental Science Test (SLTEST) facility located in Utah's west desert. The momentum deficit thickness Reynolds number of the flow was approximately 8 × 106, and the equivalent sand grain roughness of the surface corresponded to abo..
