Drastic reduction of plasmon damping in gold nanorods

Abstract

The contributions of the decay channels in gold nanoparticles by spectrally investigating the light scattered by single particles was experimentally determined. As such, samples of gold nanospheres and nanorod were investigated in a conventional dark-field microscope. This dark-field spectroscopy provides a nearly background free measuring technique and allows to record spectra with excellent signal to noise ratio.
