Abstract
The reaction of silver(I) p-toluenesulfonate {Ag(pts)} with a series of nitrogen bases has provided further examples of adducts including one {with 2,6-diaminopyridine (dap), [{Ag(pts)}(dap)]n (1)} which is a variant of the known polymeric adduct type [{Ag(pts)}(L)m]n, together with a second previously unreported complex type in which the pts ligand is displaced but remains as a counter anion [Ag(L)m+].(pts-) [with quinolin-8-ol (oxine), [Ag(oxine)2+].(pts-) (2); hexane-l,6-diamine (dah), [Ag2(dah)32+]n.2n(pts-) (3)]. Compound (1) is polymeric and is based on four-coordinate distorted tetrahedral AgN2O2 centres [Ag-N, 2.249, 2.326(2) A; Ag-O, 2.491, 2.554(2) Å]. Compound (2) comprises discre..
