Abstract

Purpose. To characterize further, endotbelial cytoplasmic processes from the choriocapillaris (CC) into Bruch's membrane (BM) in human and monkey eyes and the effect of light photocoagulation on these processes. Methods. The number of processes/lOOum of BM was determined by electron microscopy in 65 eye bank eyes, and correlated with age and changes in BM. Three eyes from patients undergoing ocular exenteration were examined, 2 having had light photocoagulation to the inferior macular 15 hrs and 5 days before removal. Three macaque monkey eyes were also examined, 1 received photocoagulation 9 days before sacrifice. Results. Endothelial processes into BM were seen in eyes of all ages. No corr..
