Abstract

Compact lattice QED in four dimensions is examined using Monte Carlo renormalization group methods. The trajectory of the renormalization group in the two-parameter coupling space (β,γ) is followed by measuring the renormalized coupling directly. On the strong coupling side of the phase transition the renormalization trajectories flow towards the trivial fixed point, and in the Coulomb phase it is consistent with the behaviour expected in a phase with power law correlations. The critical exponents are measured using the MCRG, and a single relevant eigenvalue is found.
