Abstract

Nanoengineered polymer capsule systems are emerging as a promising platform for controlled fabrication and rational carrier design, with many exciting results both in vitro and in vivo. Polymer capsules can be assembled by the "Layer-by-Layer" (LbL) technique and comprise a core-shell structure for cargo encapsulation within a semipermeable wall and allow surface functionalization with bioactive ligands. Nanoengineered capsules offer a promising platform for both the continued understanding of how particle properties influence their function and a robust method for modular vehicle design. This chapter describes the assembly and engineered bioresponsive properties of novel capsule systems, th..
