Multi-channel upstream data transmission in a millimeter-wave fiber-radio system

Abstract

Two techniques are demonstrated for upstream data transmission in a mm-wave fiber-radio operation. The techniques incorporate either hybrid mode-locking or subharmonic synchronous mode-locking of a multi-section laser at the BS which stabilizes the mm-wave repetition frequency of the laser. By implementing both schemes, the transmission of two 10 Mb/s data channels over 20 km of a single-mode fiber with successful recovery of the data from both channels is experimentally demonstrated.
