Abstract
Peter Gavin Hall was born in Sydney, Australia, on 20th November, 1951, and grew up in the Sydney suburb of Oatley. He received a Bachelor of Science with first class honours from the University of Sydney in 1974, a Master of Science from the Australian National University in 1976 and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Oxford in 1976. In 1976- 1978, he was Lecturer in Statistics at the University of Melbourne. During 1978-2006, he served as Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Reader and Professor of Statistics at the Australian National University.
