The determination of spectral parameters from significant wave height and peak period

Abstract

A parametric study of the wind generated wave spectrum is presented. To use the analysis presented herein, one needs only a knowledge of both the significant wave height and the peak spectral period. The relationships developed provide a simple method of determining if a sea is locally developed from the knowledge of the significant wave height, peak spectral period and nominal wind speed. © 1992.
