Student experience of the research intensiveness of learning environments at university

Abstract

Policy departments of research intensive higher education institutes call for strengthening the nexus between research and teaching in university curricula. In this manuscript we address the question how university students experience the research intensiveness of their learning environments as a function of group size, year of study and discipline. For this purpose a questionnaire was developed which was administered to students (n = 201) after participating in courses from the humanities and science faculties of Leiden University.
