Abstract
Several properties of aqueous solutions of n-dodecyl β-D-maltoside (DM) have been investigated. Phase diagrams of DM and n-dodecyl β-D-cellobioside (DC) were constructed, and both showed extensive isotropic aqueous solution domains. As well, solutions of DM were studied by a fluorescence quenching technique, viscosity measurements, and a lipoidal pH indicator method to examine micelle size, intermicelle interactions and the micellar intefacial microenvironment, respectively.
