The effectiveness of Stanislavski’s System in current musical theatre training has come under much scrutiny given the inroads practical research has made in systematically evaluating and testing its tenets. The multidisciplinary conventions of this form of theatre prompt unique challenges: the concept and application of emotion, for instance, already a complex topic in terms of the means and ways a Stanislavski-trained artist attempts to experience the fullness of a role, is equally vexed during the process of integrating emotion when acting musical song.
