1. 1. Nine proteins were identified in plasma of fetal pigs (Sus scrofa domesticus) using crossed immunoelectrophoresis and monospecific antisera: albumin, α-fetoprotein, α1 antitrypsin, α1-acid glycoprotein, α2-macroglobulin, ceruloplasmin, fetuin, IgG and transferrin. 2. 2. Fetuin has not previously been identified in the pig. It appears to be quantitatively the most important protein in fetal plasma throughout gestation. 3. 3. All these proteins except α2-macroglobulin were also present in fetal csf but their concentration declined considerably during gestation. © 1980.
