Abstract

This paper addresses the problem of falls in the home by older people within a health promotion framework. It brings together current knowledge of risk factors and elements of injury control theory to formulate some broad strategies for falls prevention. These strategies have the potential to significantly reduce this costly and distressing problem and can be implemented in a variety of ways by individuals working in diverse roles with older people.
