Abstract

In the treatment of lymphoma or leukaemia the metabolic derangements accompanying tumour lysis include potentially fatal hyperkalaemia or hyperphosphataemia, hypocalcaemia, and hyperuricaemia, complicated in some instances by renal failure. We report an unusual patient with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma in whom recurrent symptomatic hypophosphataemia occurred in parallel with an increase in tumour burden and chemotherapy was accompanied by predictable episodes of hyperphosphataemia and hypocalcaemia.
