Abstract

A novel approach to estrous induction in diestrous bitches is described. Twelve spontaneously cycling anestrous bitches served as controls. Thirteen anestrous and 15 diestrous bitches were induced to come into synchronous estrous using prostaglandin (diestrous bitches only) and deslorelin implants (Ovuplant). Implants contained either 2.1 or 1.05 mg deslorelin and were administered beneath the vestibular submucosa. All treated bitches came into estrous, regardless of implant size.
