Abstract

Malignant tumors of the pelvis and particularly the acetabulum are uncommon and therapeutically challenging. The dearth of recent literature relating to its management reflects the infrequency of this problem, although the content of those available underscore the complexity and difficulty in achieving satisfactory surgical treatment. With improved imaging modalities and adjuvant therapy, there has been significant progress in the development of limb sparing techniques. Various techniques are available that include biologic and nonbiologic materials. This is a review of the choices and functional outcome of skeletal reconstruction after resections that include the periacetabulum.
