Abstract
Significant improvements in survival and limb salvage techniques have permitted the greater use of limb sparing surgery for pediatric tumors. The major reconstructive problem encountered relates to the development of serious leg length discrepancies. A variety of techniques are available that attempt to address this problem while still maintaining a functioning limb. The use of prostheses is currently limited by the dimensions of the immature skeleton that has promoted the development of innovative biologic techniques.
