Abstract
The Australian film industry has been recognized for its creative innovation and cinematic power, and Australian female screenwriters have played a significant role in many of Australia’s most well-known films. For example, Judy Morris was a co-writer of Babe: Pig in the City, 1998 and Happy Feet, 2006; Jane Kennedy co-wrote The Castle, 1997 and The Dish, 2000; Melina Marchetta adapted Looking for Alibrandi, 2000, from her own novel; Christine Olsen wrote Rabbit-Proof Fence, 2002; and Rachel Perkins co-wrote Bran Nue Dae, 2009.
