Abstract
Surefoot is a new steel micropile group footing system, light enough to be manually handled by a single operator and installed using very simple power tools. It does not require excavation, drilling or use of any concrete. Surefoot can be described as a "Braced Batter Micropile Group". It comprises an adjustable steel pile cap with 3 to 16 "inclined micropiles", depending on the nature and magnitude of loads and soil conditions. To evaluate the ultimate capacity of the new foundation system and assess the applicability of current pile design methods to this new system, a series of static pile load tests were performed. Testing regime covered a range of geometric configurations and embedment ..
