Abstract

Moderate or Intense Low oxygen Dilution (MILD) combustion combines low emissions with high efficiency, which has the potential to provide significant performance improvement of Gas Turbine (GT) combustors. The presence of cold walls in a GT combustor can have an effect on the produced emissions and therefore needs to be fully understood. In this paper, the emissions behaviour of premixed and MILD methane/air flames in a head-on quenching configuration have been simulated with the one-dimensional (1D) stagnation burner geometry. The level of dilution, wall temperature and inlet velocity have been varied. The results show that CO emissions increase with increasing dilution levels, until MILD c..
