Abstract
Chinese Wuchuan Black cattle is an important indigenous breed in Guizhou province, China. However, little is known about the genetic characterization and origin of this breed. In the present study, the polymorphism and variation of complete mitochondrial DNA D-loop sequences were analyzed. Fifty-one nucleotide polymorphic sites were detected; the nucleotide diversity (π) was 5.475%. Eleven haplotypes were determined (accession numbers: HM106460-HM106470) by biological software with a haplotype diversity (h) of 0.909. This suggests that plenty of genetic diversity exists in mtDNA D-loop region in Chinese Wuchuan Black cattle. A phylogenetic tree based on mtDNA D-loop sequences suggested that ..
