Estimation of the GEV distribution from censored samples by method of partial probability weighted moments

Abstract
The concept of partial probability weighted moments (PPWM), which can be used to estimate a distribution from censored samples, is introduced. Unbiased estimators of PPWM are derived. An application is made to estimating parameters and quantiles of the generalized extreme value (GEV) distribution from censored samples. Censored samples yield high quantile estimates which are almost as efficient as those obtained from uncensored samples. This could be a very useful technique for dealing with the undesirable effects of low outliers which occur in semiarid and arid zones. © 1990.
