Abstract
Technological advancements and government policies fuel the adoption of roof top photovoltaic (PV) generation. The present scale of PV has already a profound effect on the distribution network to the extent that grid stability could be tested. This paper focuses on the static stability analysis of a simple network: a synchronous generator operating a distribution network with high PV generation. A potential conflict arises as the operational domain of a synchronous generator is limited by its reactive capability curve, whilst the roof top PV reduces the active power. Hence, as the contribution from PV increases, it could potentially meet all the real power requirements, leaving the reactive ..
