Abstract
There is increasing interest in using diamond in medical implants due to its biocompatibility, high thermal conductivity, mechanical strength, extreme longevity, and electrically insulating or conducting properties. This paper introduces a mm-size silver-diamond loop antenna that is designed to be used in implantable biomedical micro-devices in the 2.4 GHz ISM frequency band. Synthetic diamond grown via chemical vapor deposition (CVD) is used as a substrate to house a silver active braze alloy (ABA) antenna. The antenna has a circular shape with 4.2 mm diameter, 0.5 mm width, and 0.1mm thickness. Maximum gain of -13.5 dBi, Q-factor of 88, and inductance of 9.1 nH are measured when testing th..
