Abstract

Research Background Field, Context, Research Aim Romeo and Juliet, Richard III and Antony and Cleopatra by William Shakespeare together create a portfolio (the Portfolio) of works for Bell Shakespeare, each interrogating the import of the classics in relation to contemporary scenography and responsive Australian audiences. The chief research aims of the portfolio are to give the fullest possible resonance to the text by honing visual and kinaesthetic expression; to learn from each project and develop that knowledge in the next.
