Growth control circuitry and the oncogene connection

Abstract

The interplay of genes guiding normal cellular growth and development, including those acting at the cell surface and within the nucleus, and the peversions of their functions in neoplasia were the focus of the fourth European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) conference on ''Oncogenes and Growth Control''*. The 300 participants were treated to a sweeping survey, and only the dominant themes can be sketched here.
