Abstract
Publisher This chapter focuses on the generation of transmitochondrial mice that is the development of Xenomitochondrial mice to the model neurodegenerative diseases. The creation of transmitochondrial mice harboring introduced species-specific mitochondrial populations (the xenomitochondrial or xenomice model) represents a new model system that will provide a foundation to study mitochondrial function and dynamics in processes, including aging and oxidative stress, and mitochondrial disease pathogenesis, leading to therapeutic strategies for human metabolic diseases affected by aberrations in mitochondrial function or mutation. The mechanisms for eliminating introduced mitochondria in eukar..
